Employment Specialist for the 55+ Advantage Employment program for older workers. 

2 Positions:  Abbotsford/Mission

                    Chilliwack/Agassiz/Hope 

Provide Employment Services including:

  • Intake and assessments; action plan development; pre-employment services, supports and coaching; job search assistance;
  • Incorporate indigenous cultural components where appropriate into the Project activities
  • Develop Skills Training plans, including short-term skills training; occupational skills training; soft skills training; essential skills; work experiences and on the job training
  • Coordinate Employment Experience Services, such as: wage subsidy; job coaching and employment maintenance on-site; provide direct employer supports and post job placement supports
  • Support participants where appropriate, to access and attend substantive education/training leading to employment opportunities
  • Provide accessible and inclusive one to one meetings and group workshops in person, by phone and through virtual technology methods
  • Administration of participant financial supports
  • Maintain and provide relevant information in social media platforms
  • Maintain positive and productive relationships with Management team including Coordinator Kara Stokes
  • Liaise actively with Contract employer and community project partners and referral services
  • Conduct outreach and navigation with community service organizations
  • Complete reports as required
  •  Conduct evaluation procedures including participant evaluations and testimonials
  • Work with individuals with complex barriers and a broad range of cultural backgrounds
  • Build partnerships with employers, community partnerships and other stakeholders
  • Assess complex client needs
  • Achieve Progress markers and outcomes as identified in Schedule A of the Contract
  • Attend events and provide marketing and promotion on the community
  • Observe confidentiality and demonstrate ethical standards

Education/Skills/Experience:

  • A minimum of 3 years’ acquired experience 
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in a relevant discipline
  • Computer and administration proficient

Other Qualifications:

  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and reliable vehicle with a clean driver’s abstract
  • Vulnerable sector criminal record check
  • Solid computer skills; proficient in MS Suite
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Fraser Valley Regional District labour market and Community service providers

Administrative Assistant / Social Media Specialist

Abbotsford Office

  • Greet individuals entering the office and answer questions
  • Maintain Health and Safety Manual and protocols
  • Maintaining employee benefits records
  • General office administration duties with proficiency in MS Office suite
  • Strong keyboarding skills
  • Able to communicate effectively with program staff and participants
  • Schedule WorkSafe Contractors use of office space in Abbotsford and Mission
  • Maintain coffee room supplies
  • Ensure janitorial worker completes tasks to standards
  • Ensure all staff phones, keyboards, desks, and tables are sanitized daily by staff on-site   
  • Observe confidentiality and demonstrate ethical standards
  • Enjoy taking on a wide variety of tasks and responsibilities
  • Strong command of the English language
  • Bookkeeping experience an asset
  • Spread brand awareness by growing followers across social media platforms
  • Provide excellent and timely client service by responding to comments, direct messages and client service inquiries quickly, professionally and with poise and tact
  • Working alongside the coordinator, develop, plan, schedule and create social media accounts
  • Help determine which social media platforms are most suitable for the company and its programs
  • Ensure accuracy of facts, grammar and spelling in all content
  • Maintain best practices and stay current
  • Assist in creating and curating social media content including, but not limited to, images, video, live broadcasts and graphics
  • Attend events which may be outside of regular office hours to create social media content
  • Impeccable proofreading ability
  • Proficient with all current social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube.

We’re looking for someone who knows their way around the internet.  The SMS is the first person to let their friends know about the latest and greatest products by spreading the word using Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and LinkedIn. 

Seeking minimum five years experience with preference given to employment or social services area for administrative assistant function.  SMS does not require professional experience but must be willing to provide access to social media accounts.  We offer a competitive wage and benefits package.
